Wallace, CA became the focal point of a drug bust following a routine traffic stop conducted by the Calaveras County Sheriff's Office that escalated into an arrest for narcotics possession. According to a statement from the Calaveras County Sheriff's Office, the stop took place near Highway 12 and Wards Avenue involving 42-year-old Chad Nathaniel Hixson of Lodi, who was discovered to be in breach of probation terms.
During the late-night stop on Sunday, the sergeant and his canine partner, Deputy Titan, approached Hixson's vehicle, and after confirming he was not abiding by his driving restrictions, the sergeant began a search. The trained K-9 alerted to narcotics at the vehicle, leading to the discovery of a grey backpack filled with drug paraphernalia and illegal substances; among the finds were approximately 3.3 grams of suspected Fentanyl, a loaded handgun, and ammunition, setting off a flurry of charges upon Hixson, as reported by the Calaveras County Sheriff's Office.
The Facebook post by the Calaveras County Sheriff's Office detailed that Hixson was arrested for offenses including prohibited possession of a firearm and ammunition, as well as possession and transportation of controlled substances with intent to sell. Hixon is now facing a cache of charges and was booked into the Calaveras County jail, where multiple felonies and misdemeanors hang over his head as a result of everything seized in the bust.
