On a day when the living traditionally honors the dead, Long Beach will come alive with color, music, and cultural vibrancy during the 2024 Día de los Muertos Grand Parade. Set to take the streets by storm on Saturday, Nov. 2, First District Councilwoman Mary Zendejas will lead the procession through Downtown Long Beach, adorned with culturally rich performances and floats. The event places community leaders at the forefront, with the grand marshals embodying a range of influential local organizations and individuals dedicated to cultural connection and advancement, as announced by the City of Long Beach.
The parade kicks off at 11 a.m. at the intersection of Pine Avenue and East Third Street, then it winds its way down Pine Avenue to East Shoreline Drive. The colorful event is going to be impossible to miss, with its wide array of participants ranging from various city departments, community partners, and the general public invited to bear witness to the celebration of life and remembrance. For those unable to attend in person, ABC7 Los Angeles has you covered, with a live stream on their digital channel and an on-air broadcast following the event.
Given the honor of grand marshals are Long Beach Latino Employees Organization, Latinos in Action California, mariachi artist Julian Torres, and Centro CHA – all of whom have excelled through their commitment to cultural engagement and uplifting the community. According to an official city statement, these leaders have contributed significantly in their respective fields, from providing mentorship and professional development to preserving musical traditions and advocating for social advancement.
