A 32-year-old man has been fatally shot in the Austin neighborhood of Chicago's West Side, while seated inside a vehicle, in what appears to have been a drive-by shooting incident on Wednesday morning.

According to WGN-TV, the shooting occurred at around 9:20 a.m. on the 500 block of North Pine Avenue. Police have reported that a silver sedan, believed to be a Chevy Equinox, approached the car where the man was sitting, and multiple suspects inside the vehicle fired shots, the vehicle then fled southbound on Pine.

The victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his body and was subsequently rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital. Despite efforts to save his life, he was pronounced dead upon arrival. As of now, no suspects have been taken into custody in relation to the shooting and the investigation is being conducted by Area Four detectives, as per the statements provided to the press.

CBS Chicago shared that as of Wednesday, following the morning shooting, the authorities had not made any arrests, and the identity of the deceased has not been publicly disclosed, pending notification of family members. The nature of the attack, and whether the victim was specifically targeted, remains part of the ongoing investigation.
