A pedestrian met a tragic end yesterday when a collision took his life in Vista. As the San Diego County Sheriff's Office reports, at roughly 5:13 p.m., a male in his 60s was crossing East Vista Way at Townsite Drive when he was hit by a 2024 Dodge Ram 1500. The female driver in her 30s, according to the authorities, stayed on the scene and cooperated with investigators, who have found no indication that alcohol played a role in the accident.
Running against the clock, deputies and emergency personnel endeavored to save the man, but their life-saving efforts concluded in futility as he succumbed to his injuries. The inquiry into this fatal intersection encounter is now in the hands of the Vista Traffic Division.
Details about the interaction between the driver and deputies reveal cooperation and a lack of impairment, at least at the first blush of the investigation. The Sheriff's Office is reaching out for any additional information the public might have. Witnesses or individuals with further details are encouraged to contact the San Diego County Sheriff's Office at (858) 565-5200.
