
A 34-year-old man was seriously wounded while entering a West Side gas station in Chicago on Monday night, in an incident that underscores the city's ongoing struggle with gun violence. According to ABC7 Chicago, the victim was approaching the gas station located at the 3300-block of West Harrison Street in the Homan Square neighborhood, just before 9:30 p.m. when he was shot in the lower back.
Falling prey to a hail of gunshots, the man reportedly, heard the gunfire before feeling the abrupt agony of a bullet, which found its mark in his flesh. This detail comes from a Chicago Sun-Times report, which also places the time at approximately 9:27 p.m. The Sun-Times noted that no one has been taken into custody in connection with the shooting, and the search for the perpetrator continues.
First responders from the Chicago Fire Department administered aid to the victim at the scene before he was transported to Mt. Sinai Hospital. His condition was reported as serious by the Chicago Police Department (CPD). As the investigation proceeds, Area Four detectives have been canvassing the area for witnesses and any possible leads that could afford justice a stern and steady hand in the matter.
