A major water main break in Camp Washington, Cincinnati, has disrupted traffic flow on Spring Grove Avenue after a massive sinkhole formed, stretching across 30 to 40 feet in width and plunging some 20 feet deep. According to WLWT, the collapse has forced the road down from four to two lanes, with southbound traffic still able to pass through the affected section.
Yesterday, around 2 a.m., part of the 2400 block of Spring Grove Avenue near the intersection with Draper Street caved in. Cincinnati Water Works is currently on the scene, tasked with the formidable challenge of repairing the water main and the consequent street collapse. As reported by WCPO, the sinkhole is expected to significantly affect today's rush hour.
Additionally, officers from the Cincinnati Police Department have confirmed the roadway collapse and the partial shutdown extending to traffic headed towards the Western Hills Viaduct. Crews worked diligently yesterday afternoon to address the water main break. Local 12's coverage also corroborated this information, which noted that both southbound lanes remained closed, with the northbound lanes reduced to one lane in each direction to accommodate the traffic flow amidst the ongoing repairs.
