Cincinnati is waking up under clear skies and around 72 degrees Monday, but the quiet start will give way to a dangerous stretch of heat. Afternoon temperatures are expected to reach 94, with the heat index climbing as high as 100.
The National Weather Service says Monday will stay mostly sunny with only a 2% chance of rain and a light southwest breeze of 1 to 7 mph. The forecast lists no watches, warnings or advisories, but the combination of heat and humidity will make outdoor plans more demanding.
Heat Peaks Tuesday Through Thursday
Tuesday and Wednesday will both reach about 96 degrees under sunny skies, with Tuesday’s heat index potentially reaching 102. Thursday looks even hotter, with a high near 97 and only a small chance of rain.
Overnight relief will be limited, with lows around 73 Monday night and 74 Tuesday and Wednesday nights. The extended heat pushes the Queen City outlook beyond the earlier Hoodline forecast, which had already warned of a hot start to September.
Storm Chances Finally Return Friday
Friday brings the first meaningful rain chance of the week, with a slight chance of showers before 8 a.m. followed by a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms through the day and into Friday night.
Temperatures should ease to around 93 Friday, then fall further over the weekend as highs reach 89 Saturday and 88 Sunday. Anyone working or exercising outside should use the cooler morning hours, drink plenty of water and take regular breaks from the heat.
