The Memphis Fire Department is currently conducting investigations into two separate fire incidents that took place earlier on Wednesday. One incident involved a house fire located on Ketchum Road. In a bid to maintain safety and to allow unfettered access to emergency services, MFD has requested the public to steer clear of the affected areas, as reported by Action News 5.
The second incident, a mulch fire, was reported at a scrapyard located at 5227 Crestview Road in northeast Memphis. According to information provided by FOX13, a fire official mentioned the mulch fire had been burning "for a while" when noted around 6:30 a.m. The Memphis Fire Department confirmed there had been no injuries as a result of the fire and reiterated the call for people to avoid the vicinity.
Efforts to extinguish the large mulch fire, situated near Interstate 40, are ongoing. Details regarding the origin of the fire or the duration for which it has been active remain undisclosed at this stage. Updates will follow as more information becomes available, as stated in a coverage by WREG.
