A series of car burglaries in Memphis' Hickory Hill community has residents on edge and law enforcement on the hunt for a group of suspects. According to Action News 5, the burglaries occurred on Sunday morning when a Kia Soul was reported to have pulled up alongside the parked cars on Fox Lair Avenue just before half-past seven.
The Memphis Police Department stated that "three people got out of the Kia, while the driver stayed in the car," as per Action News 5. They went on to burglarize at least three vehicles. The driver, having waited in the vehicle, witnessed the drama unfold as the crew carried out the break-ins. This incident, captured on security footage, shows the suspects as they pilfer through the cars before making their escape in the aforementioned Kia Soul.
In search of the culprits, the police have turned to the public for assistance. An announcement coming from the official Facebook page of the Memphis Police Department encourages anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers, where they can provide tips anonymously. The department emphasizes that "your identification will remain completely anonymous" and prescribes the use of a personal ID number for tipsters.
Continuing the appeal for public assistance, the Memphis Police implores the community's vigilance, as reported by FOX13 Memphis. "MPD asked anyone with information about the burglars to call CrimeStoppers at 901-528-2274."
