
The Metropolitan Police Department has launched an appeal to the public for assistance in identifying a suspect involved in a serious physical assault that occurred in Northwest D.C. The call for community aid comes after an individual was attacked on the evening of September 1, 2024.
According to a report released by MPDC, the incident took place around 7:00 p.m. on the 1700 block of Columbia Road, Northwest. Responding to the scene of the assault, officers discovered the victim who had been subjected to physical harm by the suspect who then fled before they arrived. After being swiftly transported to a local hospital by DC Fire and EMS, the victim received necessary treatment for the injuries sustained.
The authorities have extended a request for anyone with information that could aid in identifying the suspect. The department strongly advises against anyone taking action and rather encourages reaching out directly to the police. Potential witnesses or those with knowledge of the events are urged to call the MPDC at (202) 727-9099. In an effort to encourage community participation and leads, anonymous tips can also be sent via text message to the MPDC's dedicated TEXT TIP LINE at 50411.
In a push to solve this case and others like it, the MPDC is offering a monetary incentive. A reward of up to $1,000 is promised for details leading to the arrest and indictment of the individual or individuals responsible for this or other crimes committed in the District of Columbia. The police's fervor for justice is matched only by the community's own desire for safety and resolution in the wake of such disconcerting episodes of violence.
