The forecast for Miami has delivered rather unsurprising news: the heat and humidity are here to stay a while longer. According to the National Weather Service, high temperatures persisting with increased chances of showers and thunderstorms heading into the weekend.

Today, Miami locals can expect a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms post 9 am, with a high around 89 degrees and heat index values reaching up to 102 degrees. "A subtle East breeze" has been singled out as responsible, for bringing in both the heat and a greater likelihood of showers, as per NBC Miami. While Friday daytime predicts interrupted sunshine, the evening brings a 60 percent probability of precipitation, followed by continued unsettled conditions through the weekend.

Looking ahead to Saturday, a 40 to 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms continues under mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies. Temperatures are anticipated to peak near 88 to 89 degrees. Moving into Sunday, deeper tropical moisture expected to wash over South Florida increases the chance of rain to 60 percent, predicting a mostly cloudy veil and highs around 86 degrees.

Early into next week, the weather pattern doesn't seem to relent, as a brewing system in the Gulf of Mexico holds a 40 percent potential for tropical development. Although, forecasts suggest stronger winds may "limit some development" of the system, indicating we shouldn't expect a significant tropical event. Regardless, "heavier rain and cooler temperatures appear likely," with chances of showers and thunderstorms ranging from 60 to 70 percent from Sunday night through the upcoming Tuesday, as reported by NBC Miami.

Residents and visitors alike should plan for potentially disrupted outdoor activities and prepare for the likelihood of intermittent heavy rains and accompanying thunderstorms as we navigate South Florida’s customary dance with tropical moisture and the whims of an East wind.
