In a tragic turn of events, the mother of a child who succumbed to a suspected fentanyl overdose has been apprehended by law enforcement. According to the Portland Police Bureau, Mary E. Jacobo was arrested in Seaside, Oregon, on multiple outstanding warrants.
The coordinated effort to locate and arrest Jacobo involved units from the Portland Police Bureau's Major Crimes Unit and Narcotics and Organized Crime Unit. State and local agencies, such as the Oregon State Police, Seaside Police, and the Washington County Tactical Negotiations Team, also contributed to finally apprehending the fugitive.
At the time of her arrest, Jacobo was found in possession of a firearm, which has since been confiscated. She was subsequently lodged at the Clatsop County Jail. The Portland Police Bureau stated that "additional information will be provided when appropriate." As the investigation continues, many are left to simply watch and hope for a future wherein such tragedies become less frequent.
