Authorities in New Orleans are turning to the public to help identify a theft suspect caught on camera earlier this month. The New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) released a statement, noting that the individual is accused of trespassing into private property located at the 2500 block of Amelia Street on October 1 at approximately 1:14 p.m., where they allegedly stole an aluminum ladder measuring about 8 feet long.
The NOPD is actively seeking leads and has asked for community assistance to track down the culprit. The department has provided a photo of the suspect, hoping someone might recognize them and aid in the investigation. Meanwhile, community members with any relevant information are encouraged to come forward and reach out to the Second District detectives at 504-658-6020. They also have the option to remain anonymous by contacting Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111, as mentioned in the NOPD statement.
Details of the theft are fairly straightforward—per the image distributed, the subject seems to have entered the premises unlawfully and proceeded to claim ownership of an aluminum apparatus not belonging to them. However, the NOPD has not indicated whether this incident is connected to any broader trend or similar occurrences in the area.
