The New Orleans Pelicans have once again made a splash in the community with a successful Jr. Pelicans League Combine event, giving 125 young athletes a chance to showcase their basketball skills. The Edward A. Dufresne Community Center in St. Charles Parish was filled with energy on Monday, as children aged 8 to 14 dribbled and dashed through stations designed to replicate professional training drills, according to the St. Charles Parish.

The event featured Pierre the Pelican and the PelSquad. Participants had the chance to show off their agility and shooting skills, comparing themselves to professional standards—a transition as smooth as a well-executed layup. Alongside the athletic assessments, there were prizes and giveaways to build excitement for the upcoming basketball season, as reported by the St. Charles Parish.

This event focused on St. Charles Parish Parks and Recreation's initiative to boost youth sports participation and was one of the largest Jr. Combines hosted by the Pelicans. As part of the Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA Week celebrations, it aimed to inspire young athletes to pursue their basketball dreams. Director Duane Foret expressed, "We are thankful to have a strong relationship with the New Orleans Pelicans and hope to host this event again next year," as stated by the St. Charles Parish.
