Residents and drivers in Snohomish County can look forward to relief from congestion with the opening of a new roundabout at the Larch Way/Logan Road and Locust Way intersection. This busy area, near Logan Park and Swamp Creek, handles around 10,000 vehicles daily and was known for frequent traffic backups. The roundabout will replace the old four-way stop signs, offering a smoother traffic flow.

According to Snohomish County's announcement, the intersection upgrade aims not only to ease vehicular travel times but also to enhance pedestrian and cyclist mobility. Following six months of construction, most of which occurred during the 10-week summer closure in 2024, the $4.5 million project has reached completion. The improvements included regrading the intersection, constructing the roundabout itself, relocating various utilities, preserving and enhancing the nearby riparian area, and the addition of shared-use paths and sidewalks surrounding the intersection.

The project, realized through the work of Faber Construction, was funded by the Snohomish County Road Fund with support from the Washington State Transportation Improvement Board. The difference it is expected to make for the daily commute and traffic-related stress for the local populace is significant, offering a tangible example of infrastructure adaptation to growing transportation needs.

To celebrate the completion of the intersection, a ribbon-cutting event will be held on Saturday at Logan Park, next to the new roundabout, starting at 10 a.m. The event will feature a short ceremony, refreshments, and project information displays. Public works staff, local officials, project partners, and community members are expected to attend. Due to limited parking, attendees are encouraged to carpool.
