The City of Avondale is planning to address traffic congestion and safety at a busy intersection. A new traffic signal will be installed at El Mirage Road and Lower Buckeye Road to improve vehicle flow, reduce wait times, and enhance safety for drivers and pedestrians.
According to an announcement on Avondale's official website, the upgrades aim to improve traffic management and inclusivity. New ADA-compliant ramps will be installed at all four corners of the intersection. However, during construction, traffic will be reduced to a single lane in each direction on both El Mirage Road and Lower Buckeye Road.
Scheduled to begin in early November 2024, the city expects the work to be completed by the end of March 2025. However, this timeline depends on favorable weather and no unforeseen challenges. Motorists are advised to prepare for potential delays and to navigate the construction zone carefully to ensure the safety of workers and equipment.
