Adding a dash of sweetness to Chicago's vibrant culinary scene, New York's celebrated dessert destination, Milk Bar, is gearing up to open a new outpost in the Windy City this fall. The new shop is landing at 200 N. Green Street on the ground floor of The Hoxton Hotel in the trendsetting Fulton Market district. While eager fans are awaiting a precise opening date, the buzz around town is palpable.
The expansion marks Milk Bar's debut in the Midwest, launching in collaboration with the esteemed Boka Restaurant Group. According to an NBC Chicago report, this partnership signifies a sweet synergy between the beloved dessert brand and Chicago's thriving food scene. Christina Tosi, Milk Bar founder and accolade-laden pastry chef expressed her affinity for the city, "I am a Midwesterner by birth and Chicago has long been one of my favorite cities to visit. Food, culture, sports, and art - the city is teeming with real people doing real things their way: creatively, honestly, and inspiringly, ” she said. Adding, “We promise to show up with passion, enthusiasm, and care, serving delicious cookies, cake, pie and ice cream early in the morning until late at night. Chicago, we can't wait to show up for you; we can't wait to call you home.”
The Chicago venue will not only feature Milk Bar's extensive selection of whimsical and beloved desserts, including Birthday Cake, Cornflake Chocolate Chip Marshmallow Cookies, and the Cereal Milk Soft Serve, but also something special for the local palate. Anticipating the unique tastes of Chicagoans, the menu will be peppered with "windy city specials" like a "Hot Dog Bomb" and a unique cookie crafted in cahoots with a local institution yet to be announced. These details first surfaced in a Fox32 Chicago release.
Residents and visitors in Chicago will be able to indulge in these treats from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and even longer hours on weekends, until 1 a.m. For those preferring the comfort of their homes or offices, Milk Bar’s sweet treats will be a button-click away with availability on popular delivery services such as DoorDash, GrubHub, and Uber Eats. The Chicago storefront joins Milk Bar's confectionery constellation that includes locations in Los Angeles, Boston, and Washington D.C., defining its first venture with the Boka Restaurant Group.
The excitement for Milk Bar's Chicago chapter was further amplified when the dessert shop cheekily hinted at the expansion with an Instagram post featuring the iconic Chicago Theatre marquee. While city denizens and dessert devotees are kept in delicious suspense, more details about the opening are anticipated to surface soon, teasing taste buds across the city with the promise of soon-to-arrive sugary confections.
