Notably, prior iterations of the walk have seen Newton County officials and local football coaches donning pumps, heels, and wedges.
According to an announcement on the Newton County's official website, the walk is scheduled to run from noon to 1 p.m. and will circle the Square Park. As they traverse the sidewalk, participants will be presented with testimonial videos and informative statistics, aimed to educate them on the realities of domestic violence. While registration for the event is free, attendees are encouraged to bring donations for the victims of domestic abuse.
Highlighted in the event's call for support are specific items needed by survivors, ranging from bottled water and cleaning supplies to bedding and children's socks. These donations are meant to provide tangible help to those affected by domestic violence and can be brought to the Newton County Historic Courthouse on weekdays, or directly to the event on October 26. A list of requested items emphasizes the everyday needs of victims, including Damp Rid, Raid Ant and Roach Spray, Lysol Disinfectant Spray, and bed pillows, among others.
