An officer-involved shooting occurred in a Chandler neighborhood yesterday morning, with reports confirming that no injuries were sustained during the incident. According to FOX 10 Phoenix, the situation began when officers responded to the area of Ray Road and Arizona Avenue around 2 a.m. yesterday after a caller reported hearing shots fired in the vicinity.
The officers set up a perimeter in an alley behind the residence, where they then heard multiple shots emanating from the home's backyard, and one officer, seeing a person aiming a weapon in their direction, discharged their firearm.
No injuries were reported among the officers or the residents, and three individuals from inside the house were detained. As AZ Family details, the scene unfolded after officers arrived to secure the location near the source of the gunfire.
This latest incident marks the 45th officer-involved shooting in the Valley, and the 75th in the state just this year, it is currently being investigated by the Mesa Police Department to determine the precise sequence of events leading up to the discharge of the officer's weapon.
