A North Texas teacher has been arrested for allegedly engaging in sexual acts with an underage former student. Angela Dawn Barnes, a 45-year-old Carroll Middle School teacher, faces charges including sexual assault of a child and having an improper relationship with a student, according to Keller police officials.
Police received the initial report in late September regarding the alleged relationship, which reportedly took place off school grounds in June and July. The teacher, a Keller resident, was arrested yesterday without incident and is currently in the Keller Regional Jail, according to CBS News.
In the course of the ongoing investigation, law enforcement currently believes that there were no additional victims involved in this case. Still, they encourage anyone with further information to reach out to Detective Brockmoller, as stated in a news release obtained by KENS 5.
The school district has responded to the allegations by placing Barnes on administrative leave, ensuring their cooperation with both Keller police and Child Protective Services in the inquiry. Carroll Independent School District stressed that "the safety and security of all students is always our top priority and any allegations of adult misconduct are addressed promptly and reported immediately to the proper authorities," as part of a statement released to the public cited by KENS 5.
