Washington D.C. residents can breathe a little easier today following the authorities' recent announcement concerning the arrest of Rodney Bennett, an 18-year-old man from Northeast D.C., in connection with a string of armed incidents. The Metropolitan Police Department release detailed three separate events where firearms were allegedly used to either rob victims or discharge a weapon unlawfully within the city, triggering a police investigation that led to Bennett's arrest.

According to police, the first armed robbery involving a gun took place on August 28 at 11:54 a.m. near the intersection of 5th Street and Neal Place, Northeast, where the suspects, assertedly including Bennett, confronted the victim and robbed them. Later that evening, around 7:19 p.m., another alarming incident occurred where a weapon was fired in the 600 block of Edgewood Street, Northeast, with one bullet finding its way through an apartment window, thankfully resulting in no injuries. The police report detailed an additional robbery on the 1900 block of 8th Street, Northwest, just hours later.

The MPD also echoed a call to the public for anyone with additional information regarding these crimes to step forward, offering a reward of up to $10,000 for tips leading to further arrests and convictions. The authorities emphasize that bystanders with information should "take no action but call police at (202) 727-9099" or text the tip line at 50411.
