A Pittsburgh man has found himself facing serious charges following a bank heist in Reserve Township. The United States Attorney's Office in Pittsburgh announced the indictment of one Mark Laughner, 38, on charges of robbing a bank, as per a grand jury's decision. This information comes directly from a release published by the Justice Department.
The indictment document lays out the details of the case, accusing Laughner of entering a local bank on May 16 and proceeding to rapidly take about $1,370 from the hands of a bank teller through means of intimidation, force, and violence. If convicted, the charges could lead to a 20-year prison term and a fine of up to $250,000.
Facets of this case seem eerily part of a broader narrative, as the Department of Justice points out that Laughner's alleged actions are becoming a familiar kind of tale within the bounds of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN). This initiative is a collaborative effort to diminish violent crime and specifically gun-related violence while striving to build a safer community.
The investigation, conducted by the Allegheny County Police Department and the FBI, led to Laughner's charge. In the path to justice, Assistant United States Attorney V. Joseph Sonson is to painstakingly undertake the prosecution.
