The Honolulu Police Department is actively searching for three suspects involved in a recent robbery and assault of a high school student in the neighborhood of Kalihi. This incident occurred as the teen was making their way home from Farrington High School earlier this month.
Officials described the ordeal, revealing that the victim was ambushed on Linapuni Street by the trio. One aggressor forcibly took the student's gold chain and proceeded to smash their phone screen, as reported by Hawaii News Now. Another suspect removed the teen's fanny pack, which was worn across the body. The HPD said that the third suspect seemed to intentionally keep the victim from moving away by pushing them.
Surveillance footage obtained by the police shows one of the suspects, dressed in a dark hoodie and pants, fleeing down a narrow passageway. This video has been made public in an effort to solicit assistance from the community. KITV shared details indicating that one suspected assailant appeared to be armed with a pistol, which he brandished under his hoodie during the confrontation.
Anyone who might quickly offer any tips or information pertinent to the case is urged to reach out to Honolulu CrimeStoppers at (808)955-8300. The collective endeavor to identify and apprehend these suspects reflects the ongoing challenge of ensuring safety in our communities, particularly for the younger members making their way through places meant to be safe passages.
