A fire that broke out last Thursday morning at Virgil's Gullah Kitchen and Bar in College Park has resulted in an indefinite closure of the restaurant due to extensive damage from the grease fire. The fire destroyed the popular eatery and caused damage to two neighboring businesses, The Real Milk and Honey and Johnny’s Chicken and Waffles, which are currently organizing cleanup efforts, according to reports from FOX 5 Atlanta.
Cleanup crews worked through the night to address the aftermath of the fire, as reported by Atlanta News First. The incident has significantly disrupted these establishments, which have been serving the College Park area since Virgil's opened in 2019 under owners Juan and Gee Smalls.
As owners Juan and Gee Smalls work to rebuild Virgil's Gullah Kitchen and Bar after the fire, they have assured customers that their other locations in West Midtown and Conyers are still open. However, there are currently no details available regarding when the Main Street location will reopen.
