Portlanders should mark their calendars for the State Library Board's upcoming public meeting on Friday, October 11. The meeting will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in Community Room 2A at the Holgate Library, located at 7905 SE Holgate Blvd, Portland, OR 97206. According to the State Library of Oregon, topics of discussion will include budget allocations, strategic planning, and intellectual freedom.

The meeting will be chaired by Greg Williams and will include a brief opportunity for public comment.

Discussions will also cover the budget report, quarterly library performance statistics, and the annual strategic report. A time for public comment is scheduled for 9:05 a.m., though the board does not typically engage in direct dialogue with commenters. As noted in the State Library of Oregon notice, "The State Library Board does not generally engage in dialog with those making comments,” and any questions or concerns may be referred to the State Librarian for further follow-up.
