Portland Police are appealing to the public for assistance in a shooting investigation that rocked the downtown streets earlier this year. According to Portland Police Bureau, the incident took place in the early hours of a June Saturday, leaving two men severely wounded, their lives abruptly disrupted by violence.
Officers were dispatched to Southwest 5th Avenue and West Burnside Street at 1:10 a.m. on June 29, responding to the distressing sounds of gunfire. Arriving at the scene, finding two men with grave injuries, they rushed the victims to the hospital for urgent treatment. Detectives from the Enhanced Community Safety Team (ECST) have been assigned, no suspects were apprehended at the scene, but the search for truth continues with unwavering persistence.
In a bid to progress the investigation, authorities have released a surveillance camera photo of a man believed to possess critical information about the shooting. Bearing witness to the scene, the image shows an adult Black male dressed in a white ball cap, white t-shirt, and black pants standing near a parked car along a city street. The public is implored to come forward with any details that may help identify this person of interest.
The Portland Police have provided a contact for those courageous enough to share knowledge that could unmask the events of that June night. Anybody with information can confidentially send tips to [email protected], addressing it to the ECST and quoting the case number 24-160758. Furthermore, anonymous reports are encouraged through the Crime Stoppers of Oregon website or by using the P3 Tips mobile application.
