A traffic incident in Portland's Hazelwood neighborhood has left a woman with life-threatening injuries, as she was involved in an altercation with a moving vehicle earlier today. According to the Portland Police Bureau, officers were called to the 9900 block of Southeast Stark Street at approximately 1:26 a.m., where they found the injured woman on the street; she was rushed to the hospital by ambulance shortly thereafter.
The details of the incident are still under investigation. Police believe the woman may have been holding onto the outside of a moving vehicle before falling off and being run over, resulting in her critical condition. The driver involved did not stay at the scene and is being sought by authorities. The Portland Police Traffic Division Major Crash Team is leading the investigation, which has led to the closure of westbound lanes on Southeast Stark Street between Southeast 99th Avenue and Southeast 100th Avenue.
