Firefighters in El Dorado County were dispatched to a blaze yesterday afternoon that briefly threatened local structures, including homes and a commercial building. According to a post made by El Dorado County Fire Protection District, the fire occurred near the crossroads of Forni Rd. and the Placerville Drive overcrossing. The flames ignited around 12:34 p.m., rapidly engulfing 0.7 acres of vegetation before the firefighters managed to bring the situation under control.
The threat was imminent enough to cause concern for the adjacent buildings along Lo Hi Way, but the response teams from various agencies, including CAL FIRE Amador-El Dorado Unit and partner agencies such as Cameron Park Fire, Diamond Springs El Dorado Fire Protection District, and Tribal Fire from Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians, were able to corral the blaze, extinguishing it before any significant damage could be recorded. With the fires no longer a threat to the community, the focus has now shifted to determining the cause of this incident, which, at this point, remains under investigation by the authorities.
The El Dorado County Fire Protection District has not yet confirmed the ignition source of the recent vegetation fire. Community members are remaining vigilant while the investigation proceeds, and firefighters are continuing to monitor the area to ensure there are no flare-ups after extinguishment.
