
A routine traffic stop in Reading, Massachusetts, took an unexpected turn last Saturday night when a police officer was struck by a truck. The Reading Police Department is asking the public for assistance in locating the driver of the vehicle. As reported by the Reading Police Department's social media post, the incident happened around 7:29 p.m. near 326 Lowell Street at Willow Street. The suspect's vehicle is described as a red pickup truck, aging but distinct with its black rear bumper and a light strip across the tailgate.
In a statement, Police Chief David Clark recounted that the officer was struck on the elbow by the pickup truck's side-view mirror. The truck had been headed east on Lowell Street before making a southbound turn onto Willow Street. The injured officer received treatment at a local hospital and has since been released, with injuries that are not considered serious.
