The Renton community is dealing with the aftermath of a tragic incident that took place last Friday afternoon. K'Shawn Konscience Jimerson, a 19-year-old from Renton, has been arrested in connection with the stabbing death of 65-year-old handyman Kyle Dean Gray. According to Renton Reporter, the King County Superior Court found probable cause to charge Jimerson with murder following his initial court appearance on Saturday.
Gray, who lived across the street from the duplex where he tragically lost his life, was remembered by his roommates as much more than just a handyman. They described him as a kind individual who was always willing to help others. "He was a tremendous person," his roommates said in a statement obtained by FOX 13 Seattle. Jimerson was apprehended by the Renton Police Department on the scene in the 3100 block of Northeast 18th Street and booked on investigation of second-degree murder.
According to court documents, Jimerson called 911 himself, reporting that he "stabbed someone." Police officers who responded to the call were informed of an assailant who had stabbed a handyman inside a home. Upon arrival, they found Jimerson outside, allegedly still in possession of the knife used in the incident, according to Renton Reporter.
In an unexpected development, Jimerson was released from custody just 27 hours after his arrest. A spokesperson for the prosecutor's office confirmed to KING 5 that Jimerson posted the $50,000 bail set by a judge. Eyewitnesses from a nearby apartment reported hearing an argument and sounds of a struggle, later seeing the suspect covered in blood and holding a bloody knife.
