Earlier this month, the Vacaville Police Department responded to a theft at Winco Foods, where two women were reportedly seen fleeing with hefty amounts of merchandise. A social media post from the department detailed how the loss prevention team provided a description of the vehicle, which led to quick apprehension. The suspects, identified as Stacie Gaskins, 46, and Neykkia Owens, 49, both from Richmond, were detained after officers found the stolen goods in plain sight within their vehicle.
According to the Vacaville Police Department, the stolen property, visible in the passenger compartment, eventually amounted to over $1,250 when additional items were discovered in the trunk. Adding to the charges, a search revealed a spiral notebook in one of the women’s possessions, containing other individuals' personal identifying information.
In the arresting process, both Gaskins and Owens were taken to Solano County Jail. Officers credit the effective collaboration with loss prevention agents as vital in responding to and preventing such incidents. The Vacaville Police Department highlighted the importance of partnership in maintaining community safety, affirming, "Together, we can all help keep Vacaville safe!"
