Faribault residents who frequent County Road 11 are advised to reroute their commutes next week as essential tree removal operations gear up. Detailed in a recent statement released by Rice County, this road closure, slated for two consecutive days, is a measure aimed to tackle several imposing cottonwood trees near King Mill Dam and Cannon River, which have presented safety concerns. Spanning from early morning to evening, the closure will take effect from Park Avenue NW to the Roberds Lake Boulevard intersection.
For those living along the affected section, access to properties will be maintained during the road closure that affects the hours of 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., both on Monday, Oct. 28, and Tuesday, Oct. 29, according to Rice County. With roots that have begun to upheave the pavement and curbing, especially one tree at the Western Avenue intersection, pose a risk for public infrastructure and passersby alike.
In an effort to guide travelers during this time, the Highway Department has mapped out alternatives. As noted in the public notice, detours include rerouting westbound traffic via Park Avenue NW, a right on Hwy. 60, then another right on Western Avenue. Eastbound drivers are advised to mirror this detour in reverse.
