A fire erupted last night, leaving Tao's Auto Service in Ross Township in ruins. According to WPXI, the fire started just after 6 p.m. at the auto service business on the 3000 block of Babcock Boulevard. Three people, two of whom are firefighters, were injured and hospitalized with first—and second-degree burns.
As firefighters battled the blaze, substantial clouds of smoke escalated into the air. Responders from multiple fire departments, including Seville Volunteer Fire Company, were at the scene. The subsequent injuries sustained by responding crew members were described only as "minor injuries" by WTAE, prompting a surge of additional ambulances and off-duty workers to provide further support.
The blaze was significant enough to rekindle this morning, which resulted in crews returning to the site. Witnesses saw smoke from the damaged building and observed firefighters needing a chainsaw to gain entry, an effort captured by on-scene reporters from WPXI. Despite the early challenge, the rekindled flames were quickly extinguished.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the fire that destroyed Tao's Auto Service. As the investigation progresses, more details about the fire will be shared.
