Tragedy struck the Saint Paul community on the evening of October 19, when 83-year-old John Bidon was found lying in the road, the victim of a fatal hit-and-run incident. The Saint Paul Police Department is now reaching out through social media, urging individuals to come forward with any information regarding the event that led to Bidon's untimely death. According to a post on the Saint Paul Police Department's Facebook page, the call for community assistance is a plea to help bring closure and justice for Bidon's family.
Details surrounding the circumstances of Bidon's death remain scant. It is known that he was discovered near Arlington Avenue and Mcafee Street—a stone's throw from where he lived—unconscious and grievously injured. The Saint Paul Fire medics who responded swiftly transported Bidon to Regions Hospital, efforts ultimately in vain as he later succumbed to his injuries. The Ramsey County Medical Examiner's findings were clear: the cause of death was blunt force trauma consistent with being struck by a motor vehicle. In a bid to possibly put together the shattered pieces of this tragedy, Sergeant Neubrand has been assigned to gather any clues that might lead to understanding exactly how to hold accountable those responsible.
Information, no matter how small, could prove crucial in constructing the narrative of John Bidon's last moments. Saint Paul police are appealing to the public, anyone who might have seen something, anyone who knows something, to step up. "Saint Paul, we need your help bringing justice to this case for John’s family," the department stated in their call to action. They encourage potential witnesses or anyone with relevant information to contact Sergeant Neubrand directly at 651-266-5722.
