A tragic discovery has been made behind the Hazard Center Food 4 Less in the Mission Valley East, where a man was found dead. As reported by the City of San Diego. The call came to the authorities last Thursday, and the man was later identified as Drevon L. Butler-Warren, a 25-year-old Black resident of San Diego.
Initially, authorities at the scene suspected an overdose based on items found near Butler-Warren's body, but further investigation led to beliefs of an assault prompting homicide detectives to look into the matter, the death was later determined not to be a homicide but the San Diego Police Eastern Division has not ceased in their inquiries into the incident, looking for witnesses and examining surveillance footage. Officers responded to the report, arriving on the east side of the grocery store at 7730 Hazard Center Drive where despite their lifesaving attempts, the young man could not be revived and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing with both the San Diego Police and the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office looking to establish the exact injuries and cause of death.
