Residents seeking to green up their living spaces had a chance this past weekend as the city's Fall Tree Sale came to a close. According to a Facebook post by the City of Minneapolis Health Department, the final day for tree pickup for those who'd eagerly participated in the autumnal sale was today.
Yet, even as the community readied itself to add more luscious foliage to its cityscape, they were met with the challenge of maneuvering around construction near the pickup area. For those approaching from the north on 35W, the advised route was a turn-off at Stinson Blvd, a left on NE 18th Ave, a subsequent left on Filmore St. NE, followed by a left on 14th Ave. NE, and for those driving up from the south via the same freeway the recommended detour involved taking the E. Hennepin Ave. exit, using 11th Ave SE, crossing E. Hennepin Ave, continuing onto Johnson Ave. NE, and then making a left on Broadway St. NE but there was a clear instruction not to continue on Johnson St. NE, instead a right turn on Filmore St. NE and another right onto 14th Ave. NE was necessary to join the pickup line.
The additional instructions provided were paramount; given the bustling construction, drivers were directed to ensure their efforts to contribute to the urban canopy did not end in frustration and confusion. The last leg of the journey required a simple yet crucial set of turns, right on Filmore St. NE and another right on 14th Ave. NE, steering tree adopters straight into the heart of the pickup line where their leafy charges awaited.
