San José's streets have witnessed yet another traffic-related fatality. As reported by the San José Police Department, a fatal collision that occurred on July 25 has claimed the life of an adult male pedestrian, raising the city's traffic death count to 44 for the year, with 17 of those being pedestrians. The incident occurred near Blossom Hill Road and Snell Avenue intersection, where a 2019 red Dodge Charger struck the victim as he crossed the street outside a marked crosswalk.
The preliminary investigation into the incident reveals that the car, driven by an adult male, was making a left turn onto Blossom Hill Road from Snell Avenue at the time of the collision. The man struck by the car was transported to a local hospital for treatment and then placed into long-term care due to the severe nature of his injuries. However, last Thursday, information from the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office confirmed the pedestrian succumbed to his injuries on October 8.
The San José Police Department continues investigating the circumstances surrounding Traffic Fatality #44 and urges anyone with information to proceed.
