On September 4, an individual stole approximately $800 worth of clothing from the JD Sports store located at 1951 WP Ball Blvd in Sanford. According to the Sanford Police Department, the incident involved a clever sleight of hand. The person selected various clothing items and approached the register to pay. They handed the employee around $1,000 in cash, but while the employee was busy bagging the items, the suspect swiftly took back $800 from the cash handed over without the employee noticing.
The suspect then left the store with the clothing items, which were effectively stolen, as only a small portion of the initial payment was left behind.
