
Authorities are on the lookout for a suspect linked to a vandalism incident in Northwest. The Metropolitan Police Department's First District has released surveillance footage from Monday's occurrence, in which an individual is seen tampering with a security camera.
The incident took place around 8:30 am on October 7, 2024, according to the report provided by the Metropolitan Police Department. The vandal is captured by the camera he was pulling down, within the vicinity of the 1200 block of North Capitol Street, Northwest.
In the footage, the suspect's actions were clearly recorded—suspected of engaging in what is being classified as a destruction of property offense. The officers who came responding to the scene were presented with this video evidence shortly after the incident was reported.
Community members with any information that may lead to identifying the suspect are strongly encouraged to make contact with the police. While the footage is critical for the authorities, eyewitness accounts or additional evidence might prove equally vital. Claiming that the suspect was captured in images that are now being widely distributed, anyone with knowledge is urged to reach out. The Metropolitan Police Department is offering a reward up to $1,000 for information resulting in an arrest and indictment.
