Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff is campaigning in Georgia this week to support his wife, Vice President Kamala Harris, as she runs for president. He'll start with a speech at a reception in Atlanta on Wednesday.
According to Atlanta News First, following a contentious election cycle, Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff is engaging with voters as part of a strategic campaign effort. He will attend a reception in Newnan on Thursday, where his presence will reflect the influence of his office. After Newnan, he will join the kickoff celebration for Atlanta Pride, connecting with a community known for its advocacy and resilience.
He ends the week at a Get Out the Vote rally in Athens to boost voter enthusiasm before the election. "Both Trump and Harris have identified Georgia as a key state in the race to secure the 270 electoral college votes needed to win the presidency," according to FOX 5 Atlanta.
In the meantime, Trump has declined to participate in what would have been a second presidential debate, slated to be hosted by CNN, deeming it "too late." Instead, the former President is set to channel his efforts into events including a gathering titled “Defend the 2nd” in Savannah and the Georgia for Trump rally in Duluth, as FOX 5 Atlanta reports.
