Montgomery County Police have apprehended a man connected to two harrowing home invasions and assaults on elderly women. Devin Jones, a 34-year-old resident of Silver Spring, faces multiple serious charges stemming from these recent events. According to the Montgomery County Department of Police, Jones's arrest followed detective work by their Special Victims Investigations Division (SVID). Evidence linked him to the crimes, including an attempted assault on an 88-year-old woman and a subsequent bedroom intrusion involving indecent exposure to a 77-year-old woman.

On the morning of October 26, police were called to Greencastle Road where an elderly woman reported a physical and attempted sexual assault after a man forcibly entered her home. Swiftly and quite sadly, a pattern began to emerge when another senior citizen on November Circle was terrorized just two days later. The suspect in this case also took the victim's phone, compounding the fear and sense of violation. These incidents prompted a thorough investigation which ultimately led to Jones's arrest by the MCPD 1st District Special Assignment Team.

When taken into custody near Stewart Lane and Lockwood Drive, Jones was reportedly found with belongings from both victims. The charges against him include home invasion, attempted first-degree rape, first-degree assault, indecent exposure, second-degree assault, and theft. With the investigation ongoing, detectives suspect that additional burglaries may also be connected to Jones.

The Montgomery County Police Department encourages anyone with information related to the case to come forward. The community has been offered the possibility to not just assist in the pursuit of justice but perhaps also to be rewarded for their efforts, with monetary remunerations ranging between $250 and $10,000 for information leading to an arrest.
