Friends, family, and colleagues came together to bid farewell to fallen St. Louis Metropolitan Police Officer David Lee, whose life was cut tragically short last month. Services and tributes poured forth at Friendly Temple Missionary Baptist Church in St. Louis, where hundreds honored the veteran officer, as reported by FOX2Now. Officer Lee, who served 18 years with dedication and commitment, was struck fatally by an alleged drunk driver while on duty.
According to KSDK, a visitation was held yesterday, followed by a service at 1 p.m. To include those unable to attend in person, a live stream of the memorial was made available.
Officer Lee died following a devastating accident on I-70 eastbound, near Grand Boulevard, on September 22. While working a crash site, Lee was moving cones when he was struck by Ramon Chavez-Rodriguez, a 24-year-old undocumented immigrant who is alleged to have been driving under the influence and is now facing charges, as detailed by FOX2Now.
During the service, Lt. Paul Lauer with the SLMPD stated, "Of the thousands of traffic violators he stopped over the years, not one of them called to say that David was rude or inconsiderate during his interactions with them," as noted by KSDK.
Officer David Lee is remembered as a dedicated officer, a kind individual, and a beloved family member. He is survived by his wife and two children, who, along with the city, will honor his memory and service.
