An arrest has been made in connection to the shooting death of a teenager in Hayward. The suspects were apprehended last Thursday, approximately three months after the incident occurred, as reported by the Hayward Police Department.
On July 13, gunfire broke out near the intersection of Pompano Avenue and Sumatra Street. Police quickly responded, hastily securing the area and locating evidence of the initial altercation. Subsequently, reports of further gunshots and a collision near the 27000 block of Havana Avenue emerged. Investigators there discovered a 19-year-old Hayward resident, Angel Enciso, with gunshot wounds sitting in the driver's seat of a vehicle that had plowed into a parked car.
Enciso was quickly transported to a local hospital but ultimately died due to his injuries. In a concerted effort by detectives, evidence collected during the investigation led to the identification of Daniel Ramos, 46, from Newark, as the alleged culprit responsible for the fatal incident. Upon his arrest last Thursday, several firearms were found and seized from Ramos' residence. However, it remains to be verified if any were used in the shooting, as mentioned by the Hayward Police Department.
The community is still to fully recover from the tragedy, as Enciso's death was marked as the seventh homicide in Hayward just this year. No information has been released on how to link Ramos to the crime in question conclusively, and the Hayward Police continue to encourage anyone with relevant knowledge to come forward and assist with the ongoing inquiry.
