The Metropolitan Police Department has reported the arrest of a man linked to two recent robberies in Southeast DC. According to the official statement, the suspect identified as 30-year-old Donovan Adams, with no fixed address, has been charged with two counts of Robbery and Possession of a BB Gun.
The first incident occurred last Thursday when, at around 12:25 p.m., the suspect allegedly confronted a person walking to the bus stop on the 2400 block of L'Enfant Square Southeast. With the threat of a firearm, he took the victim’s bag before escaping in a black sedan. The case was labeled under CCN: 24149091. The very next day, last Friday, a similar crime happened at approximately 10:15 a.m., this time on the 2300 block of Pennsylvania Ave Southeast, where the suspect, again, brandished a firearm, and coerced a woman into surrendering her possessions as she was parking her car.
An arrest was made shortly after the second robbery. In the process of apprehension, authorities recovered items from the robbery in possession of the suspect. Although no detailed information on the investigation has been released, the swift capture indicates diligent work by local law enforcement.
Donovan Adams now faces the consequences of his alleged actions, with a recovery of the stolen property linking him directly to the crimes. Official reports have not disclosed a motive or whether Adams acted alone or possibly as part of a larger network.
The Metropolitan Police Department has not provided further details on the case, and it remains unclear if additional charges are pending. Community members affected by these and similar crimes are encouraged to contact MPD with any relevant information or for support.
