
An 18-year-old man found shot outside a Naperville apartment on Monday evening has sparked a police investigation. The Chicago Tribune reports that Naperville police were dispatched around 8:50 p.m. to the 100 block of Testa Drive, near Jefferson and Ogden avenues. There, they discovered the victim with a gunshot wound to the chest.
Investigators have detained a suspect, also an 18-year-old man, who is believed by law enforcement to have a connection to the victim, indicating the incident was not random. Lay on the grass, the injured man was quickly transported to a nearby hospital where his wounds, though serious, were not considered life-threatening.
Details about what led up to the shooting remain unclear as of yet, and authorities are seeking additional information. According to the Fox 32 Chicago coverage, police quickly established a perimeter after the shooting and subsequently took the person of interest into custody.
The Naperville Police Department encourages anyone with relevant knowledge to come forward. Found by officers, the person of interest was within the perimeter set up around the scene, and his connection to the victim is still under investigation.
