The Maricopa County Attorney's Office has announced the indictment of Hector Manuel Romero on a litany of Organized Retail Theft charges after his alleged nearly year-long theft spree across various retail outlets. Throughout this spree, Romero is accused of targeting well-known stores like Target, Ulta Beauty, Lowe's, and Home Depot, accruing an alleged total of approximately $37,000 in stolen goods. The press release issued by the Maricopa County Attorney's Office on October 12 sheds light on a series of 44 incidents that spanned from November 2023 through September 2024.
Romero's alleged criminal activities drew to a close on September 21, when he was arrested and subsequently charged with 44 counts of Organized Retail Theft, classed as a Class Four Felony, and two additional counts of Shoplifting, which are considered a Class One Misdemeanor, according to the Maricopa County Attorney's Office. Despite having been halted by loss prevention officers on two separate occasions in the past, the defendant purportedly pressed on with the thefts.
