As reported by KOIN, the incident occurred shortly before 4 a.m., with police and fire departments arriving on the scene following reports of smoke and a potential arson attempt near a ballot drop box.
The situation warranted attention not only from local forces but also from the Metro Explosive Disposal Unit, which subsequently removed the device for further inspection. No reported injuries and the ballot drop box remained intact, according to a statement obtained by The Columbian.
