Early on Tuesday morning, local Vancouver authorities were dispatched to respond to a concerning situation near a downtown ballot box, where a "suspicious device" was reportedly found at the corner of Esther and 13th Streets. As reported by KOIN, the incident occurred shortly before 4 a.m., with police and fire departments arriving on the scene following reports of smoke and a potential arson attempt near a ballot drop box.
The situation warranted attention not only from local forces but also from the Metro Explosive Disposal Unit, which subsequently removed the device for further inspection. No reported injuries and the ballot drop box remained intact, according to a statement obtained by The Columbian.
Vancouver Police arson investigators are continuing their inquiry and will provide updates as soon as more information becomes available, as detailed by KATU.
