A 16-year-old male juvenile has been charged with one felony count of armed robbery, Chicago police announced. The teen is accused of robbing a 19-year-old woman at gunpoint on September 28, while she was waiting at the 69th St CTA Red Line Station, as per a statement from the Chicago Police Department.
Details of the incident indicate the juvenile, along with others not yet apprehended, approached the young woman around 9:38 p.m., and after brandishing a firearm, they took her personal belongings forcefully. Following the robbery, a Community Alert was issued which eventually led to the identification and arrest of the young suspect by the Mass Transit Tactical Team, working together with Area Detectives on October 9, in the 6800 block of S. Normal Blvd.
The Chicago Police have not released additional information at this time. The identity of the accused has been withheld due to his juvenile status.
Victims of similar incidents and those with information are encouraged to come forward to aid in law enforcement efforts. The charged juvenile's next steps in the legal process remain to be seen.
