Attention all Atlanta drivers: a stretch of Mitchell Street SW is off-limits this week. The Atlanta Department of Transportation (ATLDOT) has put a road closure into effect on Mitchell Street SW, from Mangum Street SW to Richard B. Russell Plaza SW, starting at 9:00 a.m. on Monday until 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As outlined in a recent announcement on the Atlanta Department of Transportation (ATLDOT) website, the closure allows for the removal of a tower crane at 327 Mitchell Street SW.
Pedestrians can continue using the sidewalk on the south side. Motorists will need to follow detours in the area. For westbound travel on Mitchell St SW, go straight to Richard B. Russell Plaza SW, turn right onto M.L.K. Jr Drive SW, then left to return to Mitchell Street SW. For eastbound drivers, go straight onto M.L.K. Jr Dr SW and use Richard B. Russell Plaza SW to get back on track. To access Mangum Street or the parking garage while heading westbound on Mitchell St SW, turn right onto Richard B. Russell Plaza SW, then left onto M.L.K. Jr. Dr SW. Continue to Centennial Park Dr SW, turn left, and then right onto Chapple St SW to reach Mangum St SW.
