Bringing a close to one chapter in a tale of crime and the search for justice, Atlanta Police have announced the latest update in the homicide case from Mitchell Street. Ricky Pierce, born in February 1983, was apprehended by the Dekalb County Sheriff’s Office and is now facing a litany of charges including murder, armed robbery, and weapons charges, according to a statement from the Atlanta Police Department.
This latest arrest follows the apprehension of Brandon Baker in April, six days after police took Holden Able into custody, both men also facing analogous charges related to the February incident, which left one man dead from a gunshot wound on the streets of Atlanta's Zone 1. All of the men apprehended in connection to this case have been hit with murder, aggravated assault, armed robbery, and firearms charges.
On the evening of February 5, 2024, after responding to a shooting, Atlanta police officers found a male victim at 893 Mitchell St. SW, who was later pronounced dead at the scene. Following the discovery, homicide detectives launched an investigation that has been ongoing since February, slowly piecing together the evening's events—a puzzle that's taking shape as authorities work to bring justice for the victim and the city. Authorities remind the public, however, that arrests do not equate to convictions, and each suspect maintains the presumption of innocence unless proven guilty in a court of law.
